Samaná Whale Watching (Jan–Mar)

About this experience

Seasonal tour, January through March only. A regulated whale-watching cooperative — boats stay 80m back, engines idle, no chasing. Lunch at Cayo Levantado on the way back.

What you'll do

   Very early hotel pickup

   Around 5:00 AM — Samaná is 3h from Punta Cana.

   Drive to Samaná town

   Coffee + breakfast stop on the way.

   Board the whale-watching boat

   Brief from the marine biologist before departure.

   Whale encounter (~3h)

   Slow approach, hydrophone in the water. Listen to the males singing.

5. 5
   Lunch at Cayo Levantado

   Beach buffet with rum punch.

6. 6
   Return to your hotel

   Long drive back — usually back by 7:00 PM.
